Thoothukudi - Nazareth Diocese was bifurcated from
Tirunelveli Diocese on 25.10.2003. The first Bishop of our Diocese is Rt. Rev.
Dr. J.A.D. Jebachandran, B.Sc., M.A., B.D., D.D. Our Bishop was consecrated on
02.04.2005. Consecration Ceremony was celebrated in the St. John's Cathedral
church at Nazareth.
22 Diocese are coming under the membership of the Church of South India(CSI).
